Serve in West Virginia with Young Life Expeditions

Young Life leaders in McDowell County of West Virginia have a rich tradition of loving youth in their neighborhoods! Here Young Life serves kids and families in the Appalachian culture who are part of the coal mining industry. There are many underserved kids in this part of our nation; McDowell County is one of the poorest counties in the States.

An Expeditions team may help run a junior high day camp while building relationships with kids to help build the WyldLife program. They could help at neighborhood food pantries and participate in community service projects for residents in need. They may serve at a nearby camp property and help clean up neighborhood parks. All this will help build the relationship of Young Life in this community while loving on folks who are marginalized and forgotten. Teams will also get time with kids, staff, leaders and one another.

Lodging is available at the Covenant House or various homes depending on group size.

Come learn about and be immersed in the local Appalachian culture while also having time to hike in this beautiful part of the U.S. You may also get a chance to go white-water rafting — it is a trip you will never forget!
